OVERVIEW
Elizabethtown Community Hospital is a not-for-profit Critical Access Hospital comprised of a 25-bed inpatient unit that treats acute, subacute rehabilitative and long term care patients. In addition, the Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department, three primary care health centers, and several specialty clinics. Over 175 employees work at the Hospital.
Elizabethtown Community Hospital is located in Essex County within the boundaries of the Adirondack Park. It continues to serve as the focal point for the delivery of health care services to approximately 17,000 residents of the northeastern section of the county as well as several thousand seasonal residents and visitors. The Hospital’s market includes the towns of Elizabethtown, New Russia, Westport, Willsboro, Port Henry, Mineville, Lewis, Essex, Moriah, Keeseville, Wilmington, Jay, Upper Jay, AuSable Forks, Keene and Keene Valley.
The physical location is a highly mountainous area near Lake Champlain with several exceeding 4,000 feet. These characteristics make the area remote. This has had a tremendous impact on the ability of the hospital to provide service to the community, particularly on an outpatient basis.
Elizabethtown Community Hospital is incorporated under Community Providers, Inc., the parent holding company for CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
