A 25-bed nursing unit providing acute, sub acute and long-term care. The smaller atmosphere creates a closer bond between the patient and professionals encouraging optimal healing and compassionate care. The sub-acute program is vital to area residents because following a hip-replacement, knee surgery or cardiac operation, recuperation and therapy can be done at Elizabethtown Community Hospital, saving the family the time and expense of travel. The program provides one-on-one therapeutic care.

The Laboratory Department Provides diagnostic information, including test results to health care professionals in accordance with New York State and National standards. The Laboratory is accredited by the Joint Commission and is licensed by the NY State Department of Health.
You do not need an appointment to come to the Laboratory, only an order from your physician. (Evening and off hours are scheduled by appointment).

Seven licensed New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologists and two highly skilled and personable phlebotomists staff the Laboratory. The department is operational 24 hours per day during the week so that there is no waiting time for patients on the Inpatient Unit or coming to the Emergency Room.
Did you know? Over 94% of 70,000 laboratory tests performed annually are done in house at Elizabethtown Community Hospital. That means a quick turn around time for test results to your physician. "We try to make our services convenient for our patients. There is typically very little waiting time to have Lab work done. Seasonal residents will also use the ECH Laboratory for any routine Lab testing they may need, and we fax the results directly to their physician," said Pat Thaxton, Laboratory Manager.
PHYSICAL THERAPY & SPORTS REHABILITATION
Rehabilitation services are offered on both an in and outpatient basis. Each patient receives a comprehensive care plan developed to meet his or her individual needs. Together, our therapists have over 100 years combined experience.
Inpatient Therapy
The primary goal of inpatient rehabilitative therapy is to provide treatment so patients can regain their independence and improve their activities of daily living to make a safe transition home. To accomplish this goal a comprehensive evaluation is performed by a licensed physical or occupational therapist and encompasses the following:

Joint Range of motion
Muscle Strength
Coordination
Sensation
Balance
Posture
Gait
Patient Safety
Based on the above information your therapist will design an individual treatment program to address your functional needs. ECH provides physical, occupational, recreational and speech therapy to treat a patient. Conditions staff may address include:

Debilitating states associated with acute illness
Post trauma/traumatic injury

Elizabethtown Community Hospital is certified as a Softer Mammogram Provider! That means we provide a soft foam cushion, called MammoPad, for each woman's personal use during every screening mammogram.
