Paramedic Education Program at a Glance
The ECH Paramedic Education Program is an intensive training program which blends an on-line learning environment, classroom sessions, lab sessions, and clinical experience. It is a 18-month, 1200+ hour program.
You will spend a minimum of 240 hours training in the hospitals, and 120 hours training with EMS agencies as you meet the requirements and prepare for a Capstone Field Internship. This internship will put you in the role as a paramedic team leader for a minimum of 120 hours and is a great opportunity to showcase your knowledge and skills.
Hands-on clinical training is offered at over 13 regional health care organizations and 29 EMS agencies across Northern New York and Vermont.
Classroom locations across the region and online coursework make it easier for students from Clinton, Essex, Franklin, St. Lawrence, Warren, and Washington counties to learn closer to home.
When possible, the program seeks out opportunities for our students to learn in new ways. Our program includes a cadaver anatomy and procedures lab for paramedic students and EMS providers around the region. This lab allows our students the unique opportunity to learn in a way you cannot from books or manikins.
Tuition and fees are approximately $6,000 and scholarships are available.
ECH’s Paramedic Education program’s purpose is to prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels, to serve in career and volunteer positions in the Mountain Lakes EMS region and surrounding areas.
To be the premier provider of Paramedic education in northern New York and become a model for other rural education programs.
ECH recognizes the following core values: Teamwork, Quality, Compassion, Respect, Communication, Accountability, Service, and Trust.
These values are expected of all staff and students representing the program.

Letter of Review is recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) for eligibility to take the NREMT's Paramedic credentialing examination(s). However, it is NOT a guarantee of eventual accreditation.
