Elizabethtown Community Hospital to Hold Free Health Screenings This Fall

Comprehensive Screenings Aim to Keep Adventurer Seekers Safe

The University of Vermont Health Network - Elizabethtown Community Hospital (ECH) will host community health screenings next month, with a focus on fall and winter activities such as hiking, hunting or skiing. The screening events, which are free and open to the public, are scheduled at the hospital from 3:00pm - 6:00pm on Tuesday, September 17 in Elizabethtown and Wednesday, September 18 in Ticonderoga.

Julie Tromblee, MSN, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Elizabethtown Community Hospital, said, “While enjoying the great outdoors, it’s important for folks to know their body can handle what is required of it before heading out on the trails or into the woods this season.”

Hospital staff will check blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and oxygen levels as well as vision, height and weight. EKG readings are also available to assess heart health, and results will be mailed to participants within two weeks. Information about fall prevention, diabetes and medication reconciliation will also be available.

Emphasizing the importance of routine health screenings to help identify potential issues, Tromblee added, “If people aren’t able to make one of our free screenings, I encourage them to see their primary care provider at least once a year for a well visit.”

ECH has six community health centers throughout Essex County
