Daisy Award

About the daisy award

We are proud to partner with the DAISY Foundation to honor our extraordinary nurses for the skillful and compassionate care they provide to our patients and families every day.

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is an internationally recognized program that was developed in 1999 in memory of Patrick Barnes who died at the age of 33 from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).  Patrick’s family was profoundly impressed with the skillful and compassionate nursing care he received while in the hospital and established the DAISY Foundation as a way to recognize and honor the work that nurses do for patients and families every day.  DAISY is an acronym for Disease Attacking the Immune System.

Our Daisy Nurses

Twice a year, we recognize our DAISY recipients with a special celebration with their coworkers and colleagues.  They also receive international recognition through the DAISY Foundation, Scrubs Magazine and Twitter.  He or she will also be celebrated with a plaque, a “Healers Touch” figure and DAISY pin, as well as additional benefits including tuition discounts, scholarship opportunities and professional organization discounts.
